Pico Duarte Trekking\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Join us to climb the tallest point of the caribbean at J. Almando Bermudez National located in the Central Mountain Range of the country. <\/span>The tour will go from a tropical forest to the pine forest of J. Armando Bermudez National Park, walking on trails through thousands of ferns, you will see parrots, goldfinches and other exotic birds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This National Park was established in 1956, the Armando Berm\u00fadez National Park stretches 767 square kilometers (296 square miles), and together with the neighboring Jos\u00e9 del Carmen Ram\u00edrez National Park.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is the source of the Yaque del Norte river, as well as several more river sources. The two parks cover the surface of the entire Cordillera Central mountain range. You\u2019ll spot unique flora at this altitude, where temperatures range from 12\u00baC (53\u00baF) to -8\u00baC (17\u00baF) at night.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With the company of a professional guide, you will make this journey through the largest mountain range with more than 250 km in length and 60 km of light, Pico Duarte is the highest peak\u00a0 in the Caribbean with (3’098 m) which is about 10,164 feets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pico Duarte (Duarte peak) is named after Juan Pablo Duarte, considered one of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic. <\/span>You\u2019ll hike\u00a0 28-mile (46-kilometer) round-trip,\u00a0 this tour\u00a0 can be completed in three days, with well-maintained mountain lodges providing overnight accommodations.<\/span><\/p>\n

This three days hike is led by local Dominican guides\u00a0 who are in charge to take you both ways. They also have horses for those who don’t want to walk the distance and can ride mules. As you walk, take in the stunning scenery and watch for local wildlife.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The mountains and landscape are populated with a variety of birds and iguanas that inhabit the rugged terrain. Enjoy being surrounded by shady trees and water springs where you can cool off after a hard day of hiking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 1<\/b>– <\/span><\/h4>\n

Meeting Point you must be at 9:30 am at Jarabacoa. Lunch in Jarabacoa (this meal is not included) Arrival at the Cienaga de Jarabacoa. Walk to Caseta de Los Tablones, inside the Park (4kms soft). Dinner. Asleep<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 2- <\/b><\/h4>\n

This morning we\u2019ll get up early . We had breakfast. Beginning of the walk at 5 am towards La Caseta de Compartici\u00f3n for about 13 kms. Short rest break. Some snacks. We continue towards the top of the Peak, passing through Valle de Lil\u00eds (6kms from Compartici\u00f3n to the top). There will be specific resting points. From la Cima, we return to La Compartici\u00f3n to have lunch \/ dinner, rest, bathe, have tea at the campfire and sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 3-<\/b><\/h4>\n

We get up at 6 am. We have breakfast and we go back to La Ci\u00e9naga, for about 17 kms. Typical lunch before the return.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: Each participant must carry in their backpack their snacks from the walk (hydrating, sweet and salty, edible of their choice, water bottles to fill on the way).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The people to participate must be in optimal health, physical and mental conditions. People with a health condition that can affect prolonged efforts, such as asthma, pressure problems, diabetes, or other ailments related to this type of physical activity that could endanger should not participate.<\/span><\/p>\n
